In 2010, Dr. Debashis Saikia did his M.Sc in Instrumentation Science from Gauhati University and secured highest CGPA. He qualified UGC-NET (Eligibility for Lectureship) in 2012 in Electronic Science. He did his Ph.D in the year 2016 as INSPIRE Fellow (DST, GoI) under the faculty of technology from Gauhati University in the topic entitled Studies on Smart Temperature and Relative Humidity Sensor Applications in tea factory under the Supervision of Prof. P. K. Boruah and Prof. Utpal Sarma of Department of Instrumentation and USIC, Gauhati university, Guwahati, Assam.

His research interests are Smart Sensor Instrumentation, Instrumentation for Precision Agriculture, Soft Computing Application. He published research articles in different journals like MAPAN (Pub: Springer), Journal of Circuit System and computers (Pub: World Scientific) etc.

His other interests include Writing, Acting, Directing and Reciting. He has directed stage plays like Pritidhwoni Suno, Mahajagya, Kahaya Chandi Das etc and a maiden short film called Jen Epahee Phool. Also He has acted in several full length and one act drama. He also acted in Assamese films viz. Aei Maatite, Adomya, different TV serials and short films. He also published several articles in newspapers and magazines.
